Root canal treatment is also called endodontic treatment. The outermost layer of the tooth is called enamel. The one inner to this is the dentine. Inner to this even is the pulp cavity. This is full of nerves, blood vessels, and cellular matter. During endodontic treatment, this cavity is cleared up and then disinfected. After this, the cavity is filled up with a substance like a gutta percha, and it is then cemented out from the rest of the tooth structure. A dental crown or cap may be placed atop this for providing it strength and support. After a root canal procedure, the patient is expected to take care of his or her dental routine properly. The patient should brush his or her teeth at least twice daily and for a duration of at least two minutes each time. Also, dental flossing at least once a day is a must and by using proper technique. In addition, the patient should take care of his or her diet for a few days and eat some soft foods so that the area where the root canal is done is not disturbed much. What is the difference between endodontic treatment, dental implants and dentures?Endodontic treatment means the tooth is restored. It is not extracted out. However, in the case of dental implants, teeth are extracted out as they are in the case of dentures as well. Dental implants are one of the latest trades to enter the world of dentistry. A dental implant constitutes a titanium screw which is drilled into the jaw bone. The jaw bone grows around the titanium screw naturally and it firms up in its position after about three to four months. A dental cap or crown is placed atop the screw to function as the tooth which the world sees. Dental implants can last the entire duration of the lifetime of a person if they are taken proper care of.Dentures are also termed as temporary teeth. They last for five to seven years and need to be changed after this since they may become lose or ill-fitting with time. Also, they are a bit obvious to any onlooker since the facial structure of a person changes by a bit after using dentures. A person needs to be a bit careful of not biting into a food item which is hard or sticky with dentures or they may crack. Also, they may accidentally slip out of the mouth of the patient if he or she laughs too loudly. Dentures are taken out each night and placed in a container full of cleansing liquid into which a cleansing tablet has been added. The dentures can be cleaned up with soap or with a toothpaste meant for this purpose as well. Endodontic treatment, if not successful in the first go can be tried out again. Also, if it is not successful in the second go as well, it should not be tried out for the third time. The dentist should go in for an extraction. For more details contact: 9136 Bonita Beach Rd SE, Bonita Springs, FL 34135. Call: (239)494-4574.
