Oral surgery can look after a whole plethora of issues. There are several treatments which fall into the category of surgery kind of treatments of the teeth. One is endodontic treatment. This is also called root canal therapy. In this, the tooth or teeth are not extracted or removed. In its place, they are restored. The outermost layer of the tooth is called the enamel. The one next to this is the dentine. Inside this is the pulp cavity. This is made up of cellular material, nerves and blood vessels. In the root canal treatment, the dental cavity is cleared up of this matter. Also, it is then disinfected. A substance called gutta-percha is inserted inside the dental cavity, and this is cemented away from the outside environs. A dental crown or cap may be placed atop the tooth or teeth which are being treated.

What are dental implants?

This is the latest in the line of all treatments of the teeth. Via this treatment, the teeth are extracted out. In their place, a titanium screw is placed inside the jaw bone. The jaw bone grows around this screw in a natural manner. Within three to four months, the screw gets firmly implanted in its place. A dental crown or cap is placed atop this screw, and this is how the world sees the tooth. Dental implants can last the entire lifetime of a person if they are looked after properly. Good oral hygiene like brushing teeth twice daily for a duration of at least two minutes each should be done. Also, regular dental flossing should be done. If possible, try to brush the teeth each time after consuming food or drink. If not possible, try to rinse the mouth thoroughly each time. Dental implants should be checked up by the dentist periodically for adjustments if required.

What are dentures?

Dentures are false teeth. For this, teeth need to be extracted out. Before this, the dentist takes an impression of the teeth and gums and sends it across to the dental laboratory. Here, the dentures are manufactured. These are sent back to the dental office where they are placed over the gums of the patient. Dentures need to be changed after every five to seven years. They can become loose with time. Also, they need to be taken out each night before the patient goes to sleep. They are placed in a solution of cleansing liquid. They have brushed also with this cleansing liquid. If a person laughs too loudly while wearing dentures, they may slip out of the mouth of the patient. Also, they may just crack or break if a person bites too hard into a sticky or a very hard food item. Dentures too need to be shown to the dentist after every few months for cleaning it up professionally. With good care taken of them, they too can last for more time.Contact: 9136 Bonita Beach Road SE, Bonita Springs, FL 34135. Call: (239)494-4574
